The club will be diving at the Atlantic Quarry located at Schildberg Construction off Iowa Hwy 83 in Atlantic, IA on the following dates:

Saturday, June 30 at 11:00AM
Sunday, July 8 at 11:00AM

Get out your dive gear and join us! The club will host an after dive cookout and provide hot dogs, buns, and condiments. Feel free to bring other items to grill, side dishes, chips, desserts, etc. There is a rumor - there may be freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Been out of the water for a while and need to brush up on your skills? Contact any of the local dive shops to arrange a scuba refresher course. If you have additional questions or have never been to the Atlantic Quarry please email cspringe@go-scuba.net. Let's get wet!

The dry spell is over for me! We decided to run to the Atlantic Quarry this morning to check it out. So glad we did! The visibility was much improved, approximately 15 ft. I never dropped below the thermocline but Lloyd said it started cooling off around 19 ft.

We spotted the usual characters, tons of blue gill, largemouth bass, crappie, carp, and I found a nice size catfish. There were tons of turtles who would pop their head up at the surface but we never saw one at depth.

Looking forward to the upcoming club dive events!

SG,

Where exactly is this quarry? I know nothing of the area, but one day I might decide to take a road trip (or at least stop by on my way to family in Northern Iowa). If I head north out of Kansas City, MO (29 or 35) will I run into it?

The Atlantic Quarry is off I-80 at Exit 54. It is located at Schildberg Construction off Iowa Hwy 83. If you go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com), click on Maps, paste in 41.410017,-95.026953, then click on Satellite, you can see the quarry. Hope this helps!
