Well shoot! I was going to go diving at a local quarry tomorrow, but my babysitters pooped out on me.http://www.scubatoys.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif Well then I thought I had it worked out with my mom and sister who are supposed to dive with us to take turns diving and watching my kiddos, but a girlfriend of mine is due to have her baby at any second and we are supposed to take care of their son when she goes into labor. No problem, we'll come home if she does....not exactly...they called a few minutes ago...her contractions are 5 mins apart and they are bringing over their little boy. So now we can't go.http://www.scubatoys.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif I mean yippeee for the new baby and all but I'm really dissapointed now. I know...ya'll feel soooooo sorry for me. I was hoping to get another couple of dives in before I go to Coz. I only have 9 dives on my belt and I was hoping fora littlemore experience before I leave. Anyway, justbeing a cry baby.

I have enough trouble keeping track of my 4 year old, I sure wouldn't want to be keeping track of 3 of them.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>The way I work things is my wife who doesn't dive watches my daughter while I dive, she usually swims in the shallow portion to have fun and all. Then when I'm done diving we go do something as a family. Of course with your real young ones that's not something you can do, but when they grow up a bit that might help. Kids just love water.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>In fact, where I go swimming I've seen babies less than a year old swimming on their own in there. It's like they're born to swim, but if you don't get them started young like that they struggle with it.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>At any rate I know what it's like to miss out on a diving plan, my buddy called me last night to tell me he wasn't going to be able to make it, sigh. I really wanted to go too.</DIV>

Just feel lucky you get time to go to COZ with 2 kids. The 9 dive you have will be plenty to do the drift dives there. If you have never been diving in Coz you will be totally hooked. Make sure you askthe Dm to dive Santa RosaWall.

OH don't feel so bad... your going to Coz soon!

I drove 3.5 hours a few weeks back to dive a quarry and when I got there, I couldn't clear my ears. This was after 45 minutes of fixing my tank valve on a tank that I had JUST had serviced for O2. Then I had to adjust my new BP/W etc. All this time I had a dive buddy waiting on me.. Then I hit the water and can't go below 10', I'm sure he wasn't happy but he was a trooper about the whole situation. 7 hour drive for nothing.. sad day for me!

At least your dive sites are still open. All the flooding over the past month has closed many of our local lakes. Some lakes are 24-27 feet above normal. Even the others are 5-7 feet up. All that rain, and flooding has washed tons of silt in to the water. The water is fillled with floating debris. It's a true gamble right now if I should make the 4 hour (one way) trip to the lake to go diving. I know I can't take my boat with me if I do.

One thing I would say is that I can not imagine my life now without my daughter. She brings so much more to the table with here than can be imagined, bugs, dirt, paper, etc.http://www.scubatoys.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif She's a one woman wrecking crew!http://www.scubatoys.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Seriously though, whatever inconveniencies she causes are minor in comparison the the joy I get every day just watching her grow. Sometimes just a question from her is enough to make the day nicer for me.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Of course, there is the downside as well, kids will drive you nuts sometimes but it's balanced. My daughter says she wants to be a diver and she's only 4. She's pretty close to swimming and loves water, as soon as she can keep swimming when she needs air she's good to go. Right now she puts the feet down and breathes and then she's off again.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I've been known to do a short dive and then come back just to play with her at the beach, sometimes she'll ask me to bring back something for her. Last time I found a railroad spike for her and she loves it.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Kids are great.</DIV>

FooMan2 &amp; I have only gotten to go on two dives together twice since I got my cert in May. That time the kiddos went to my mom-in-law's while we were there. Lucky for us she loves to have the kids around. My mom and sis didn't end up going either cause my sis got sick. So I guess it worked out for the best that my friend went into labor. BTW, she had a beautiful, healthy little girl at 6AM yesterday morning. They are doing great and the boys got along perfect while he was here. (Lots of prayers!) So anyway, it turned out to be a good day. Thanks for all the well wishes though!

Hehehe, your smaller kid made me laugh with that big grin on his face!

Tell him he's not the only little boy in the world with that Thomas the train chair! smileys/smiley29.gif My little boy has the exact same one... well not the exact one because you have one at your house.. but you get the picture :)

him to play with.smileys/smiley2.gif

Uh huh, sure! My son LOVES Barney... His room his 3 doors down from the living room and if I was to turn it on at 12am, I'm sure he'd be whining and crying to get out of his bed to watch it... he's addicted! I'll try and get a video of him breaking it down to the intro song! smileys/smiley4.gif

Speaking of transformers, have you guys seen the movie!? It's one of, if not, the best movie I've ever seen! Don't waste your time on Fantastic 4, it's a waste of time!

Not sure how I managed to miss this post. I just wanted to say I have no doubt you'll do well. I've never seen anyone straight out of OW look as good in the water as you did. You had buoyancy, trim, everything. That and your air consumption straight out of OW was better than mine and I've been diving almost 2 years (grumble grumble). Enjoy your time in coz, I expect a full trip report when you get back. You probably won't see this until you get back, but oh well, it's the thought that counts.

This is brilliant. Just when I thought I've used duct tape for everything, I find out it can substitute for a babysitter.

I haven't been gone that long. You're new so you don't know. I had my third child in May. So as you can imagine my days are pretty full. Not a whole lot of time to babysit you jokers. ;-)
