I am looking at getting a Ranger in the coming months and was wondering what people thought about the lumbar pad.

I am kind of bony in my back and pelvis area and it made things much more comfortable.

Cool.....thats what i like to hear.:)
Im a bricky so my lower back isnt the best and the tank sits right against where it hurts.

I purchased my brigade with the lumbar pad and I love it. It gives the right amount of padding in my opinion, no lower back pain. I had some pain in a jacket style BC when doing my checkout dives (before I had my own BC) and that is one reason I purchased it with the pad installed from SC. Remember, it also takes up a little room when it comes to sizing.

Would you say it takes up 1 size?
I am using a mates Brigade now and it is way too big.....i also have the opportunity to try on another size Ranger before i purchase.
Thanks for the help.

I would say "no" to taking up one size. It isn't an issue if your vest fits you correctly. I dove with my Ranger for 1 year and then installed the lumbar support (aka: lazy boy chair). I love it, well worth the price.

:smiley20: I LOVE MY LUMBAR PAD!!!!!! :smiley20: (two thumbs up.)

It really is very comfortable. It takes up some space but I don't think it is a whole size.

I would say it takes up about a half size. My Brigade fit perfectly everywhere except around the waist. It was just a little loose with the cummerbund at the smallest setting. Once I installed the back pad it fit perfectly, and is soooooo comfortable.....I would definately recommend the back pad...

Plus, it's neutrally buoyant as well...
