View Full Version : Pelican - Good Brand?

I bought a Pelican Sabrelite 2000 as a back up light. It flooded on it's first dive. I was doing my surface swim (hadnt even descended once) when I tried to use it, only to find it was useless. I unscrewed the top and water poured out...

So, my light rated to 500ft didnt make it 6 inches :(

Now, it's a pelican so its got a lifetime warranty. Is this just a fluke? Would it be safe to get another?

I have no experience with Pelican lights, but their cases are first-rate. I would take some pretty valuable stuff down in one of those cases. I can't say a bad thing about them (except for the price on the big ones...yikes!)

Are you sure it's a submersible light? I know they make some that aren't. I had a friend who flooded two in a row before he realized the light he had wasn't submersible.

Pelican will back it up for sure. I would say send it in. I had one that had a small crack in it that look like a scratch. After the third time of flooding it I sent it in. Again with no questions asked.

I have a big King Pelican primary dive light. Glad to know they back up their lights should the need ever arise.

We had one of the Pelican recoil LED lights that seeped enough to cause rusting of the innards. Pelican replaced it but the replacement would flood, which was worse. We finally tossed it (not wanting to hassle anymore) and bought a Nocturnal Lights SLX LED light instead.

I used pelican light for years without a problem. The one I bough 25 years ago just recently wore out, haven't found it's replacement yet.
