I am interested in continuing to dive into the fall and perhaps even the winter. I own a full 3/2 wet suit as well as a 3/2 shortie. What do I need for the fall/winter to dive in the Dallas area?

In central TX, I use a good 5mm full suit with a 5mm hooded vest and add a chemical heater when water temps fall into the 50's. I've gone into the high 40's in that but not for long and not very deep. I have a 3/2 but I only use it for mid to high 70's. Any colder than that and I want at least the 5mm.

You can get by in a thick wetsuit. 3mm would be miserable.

Travis will be in the high 50's in winter.Dallas area the water will probably be colder than that.

I use a drysuit.

In the fall I will use my 3mm suit until November. Then I switch to my 7mm suit when the water temp drops below 75 degrees. After Thanksgiving I switch to my drysuit so I can start getting use to it before the water gets too cold.
