I need a tank-looking at a steel one so that would take care of $250 easy...also looking at a Mares M2 wrist computer. $250 goes real fast in scuba cash.

I need a diving skin. I was cooked like a lobster out at my rescue class since I wasn't wearing and didn't need a 3mm. I want to get one before I go on vacation September 1 but don't know if I can hit 250 before then. I'm sure I could, but I'm trying not to abuse the offer. I did just buy a new Atomic UltraClear mask (yes I am local it was sold properly) so my current mask can be retired to backup status after the buckle broke on me. I also got the buckle fixed for free by ScubaToys, those guys are awesome.

Think mine's going toward finally getting a canister light. I've been wanting one for quite a while and just haven't done it yet. Seems the general opinion is that it's worth the extra cash to getan 18 or 21 watt over the 10 watt option...so the extra "cash" will come in handy. It doesn't get any better than getting paid to post in the forum discussing something that's so much fun.

That is but a start. Just do what the rest of us did. Walk into the ST shop and hand your credit card to Joe. Then wander through picking up this and that until your card melts into a puddle of molten goo. Ask for Will as your sales guy. He'll be gentle.

Can I use mine for air fills? Ya know, if Joe and Larry were feeling extremely generous, the'd just declare that for every 50 posts, you get a free air fill. When Larry and Joe first made the offer, I was checking out their sausages. I had my eye on the big one.
I am a little uncomfortable with the size of mine.

Having said that, the size of the sausage is not the only thing that matters. I was drifting with a DM and 4 others waiting for pick up when the boat pulled along side and said they had an emergency and would be back to find us later. The DM could not reinflate his sausage. I pulled out my sausage, and although it was smaller was able to orally inflate it.
I took some comfort in that.

I have shifted gears after diving with my daughter this weekend. I am going to pick up another Aluminum plate and rig it with one of my wings for her.

Dive-aholic
07-31-2007, 23:06
Well, I have pretty much everything I need...for now...

But since the offer is there, I guess I'll have to get some more stuff. Within my spending range right now is a few DIN valves to convert some 80s into side mount tanks for my wife and me.

I'm sure if I look hard enough I can find some more stuff, too...

Bit of a highjack here, but for a little more money you can pick up a steel eighty.
All tanks swing by the weight of the gas. What you mean by weight swing is the buoyancy swing from negative to positive. The extra couple pounds in an aluminum neutral 80 keeps it negative.
With the steel eighty, you don't get the big negative to positive swing, the steel weighs less, holds more and will last longer.
My $.02

Great reg. I dive one of the older style MR22 Abyss reg's and I've never had an issue with it. It breathes great.

Now that you mention it, I'm going to need another first and second stage for when I do make the transition to doubles. When I hit 250 posts, it might be time to order one....

I have never understood why so many people just use an aluminum 80 tank. If I were diving twin tanks it would be two high pressure steel 100's cause you can fill them up to 4000 psi. I love the longer bottom time.

Honestly, when you get to be a better diver, you tend to be limited more by the tables/computer more than the tank. I never have to come up due to lack of PSI. If you are talking Decompression diving and diving doubles that is a whole different conversation.

P.S. Since this is a thread about what you are going to buy with $50 GC, pink (yes, d***it, pink) Apollo Biofins.
