I stayed on Ambergris Caye earlier this year and it was definitely a good place to stay for both nice diving and a good time locally. There's loads of info here www.ambergriscaye.com (http://www.ambergriscaye.com/) We did a trip to the Blue Hole which was a really fun day of diving. I've heard Placencia is nice if you want to see whale sharks during the right season. This is where we'll be going for our next Belize trip though http://www.glovers.com.bz/index.html (http://www.glovers.com.bz/index.html)

Hello:
I've been in the Turneffe Island Lodge. (Scuba Diving Magazinne of this month) Excellent diving package, all inclusive, Excellent food. 95% of the dive sites at less than 5 minutes boat drive from the resort, including the ELBOW. On Tuesdays you have the opportunitty to dive the Blue Hole, first thing in the morning.

Try to get your hands on the November 2007 issue of Scuba diving. It is about Belize and has a ton of info.

Dive Belize on a liveaboard. Cut down on those long boat rides every day.

If you are on a budget and into a very quiet, ecofriendly place, I'd check out "Off the Wall" on Long Caye, Glover's Reef. The diving is great, and so is the resort, if it's your kind of thing. I've mentioned this place in previous posts - It's tiny (4 cabins) and isolated (nothing but a kayak company and the dive "resort" on the island), but it may just be my favorite place in Belize.

Sunbreeze Hotel is a nice place to stay. YOu can dive with Amigos del mar they have a nice boat and go out all the way to Lighthouse atoll and Blue Hole. There is lots of local diving also. Check with Chuck and Robbie, good price and great guys in small groups no more than 10.

We used Hugh Parkley's when we dove in Belize, although it was a cruise ship dive, we looked over the area as a possible place to return and stay. The operator was outstanding with top rate service, wuite a change from the prior dive in the week. The DM was excellent at pointing out all the sea life this new diver would have missed and the grounds looked very clean and staff welcoming.

This is one place I plan to return to in the next few years:smiley20:

We went on the Nekton Pilot in Jan 2007. First class food and you walk to the back of the ship to jump off. Spend the last day looking a tthe ruins. Easy enough to get a trip scheduled out there the same day you go to the airport.

Glovers looks like the bomb, if your into that roughing it on vacation thing. A lot of misc. type of charges, but really cool. :smiley20:

We stayed in Belize in April - we rented a private house on the ocean in Hopkins- it was VERY economical and we paid for our dives at Hamanasi - The rental was called Compass Rose - Welcome to the Compass Rose Guest House (http://www.compassroseguesthouse.com/)
The dive trips took us to the Atolls and Ambergis Cay as well as Glovers Reef -
