View Full Version : Women's dive t-shirts (or lack thereof)

Have you noticed that there's not a lot of options for us in dive shirts/t-shirts?
Personally I like wearing my dive t-shirts - and I'm definitely a t-shirt kinda gal. But I don't find a lot that I really like! Amphibious Outfitters has just a few that I'd wear - and I don't particularly care for the idea of wearing a pic of a half-naked chick on my back! :smiley36: (no offense to the guys lurking here .... and you know you are)

Seems like there's just not a lot of options....

Is it just me? If you could find the perfect dive shirt what would be on it?

I just buy some dive shirts when I am on a trip.

I have a great one from the reef protection group in Roatan & I have a new one from Bonaire that is light green with the words love to dive in the shape of a heart.

I haven't seen any of the commercial one that I just have to have.

Exactly! what would you look for?
I realize I may be a little older than a lot of the women divers around - not all - so those good 'ol Dive Diva or Dive Sl** shirts aren't something I'd wear. Did get a tee at Crystal River when I was there.

I almost got a "dive babe" tank but instead I got a guy's small "work sucks, I am going diving" from the bonaire airport.

fits my attitude better.

beautybelow & I actually discussed making dive shirts (and a few other things like post & note cards) using his images.

I would love to still do that.

I placed an order with girldiver.com over a week ago and I haven't heard from them. I also e-mailed a few days later asking for confirmation, information, etc... and got no reply.

It sounds like someone on this thread knows this shop well. I was beginning to wonder if it was for real. Are they legit?

i know what you mean--i finally convinced my LDS to let me create a logo that wasn't written straight across the front (which, if it's white and you slip it on shortly after a dive just looks like you're trying to win a wet t-shirt contest at the local bar!)....i just hope they print some before i move away!

Here is a company that was at DEMA this year. Woman-owned, and designers of dive apparel. You women-types might appreciate the differences their designs bring to the table. :-) There are clothes that guys won't mind wearing, too!

Bottom Crawlers (http://www.bottomcrawlers.com/)

Really great review of their stuff at DEMA by a buddy of mine: The Dive Matrix Forums - View Single Post - Bottom Crawlers Gear - worth a look! (http://www.divematrix.com/showpost.php?p=23076&postcount=1)

What makes the "decent t-shirts for women" challenge even better is when you are also plus sized. We all know that so many apparel companies right along with dive gear manufacturers don't acknowledge that big girls have active lifestyles and dive.

I would love to see some people print designs on cute stylized tops other than a regular rectangle shaped t-shirt, that are curvy/plus sized friendly.

I get tired of looking at the cute shirts from some of the different links people have posted and in most scenarios I would have to buy from the men's stuff because the women's stuff come in generally smaller t-shirts and the meant to be worn skin tight baby tee. Sigh.

And there is no better self-esteem knock than buying men's shirts.

actually, since you brought it up, I am in the process of designing some t-shirts, etc. I hope to have something done in the next month or so and up for sale on cafepress. I am open to suggestions about what women in particular are looking for. Post here or e-mail me your ideas!
Do you want snappy sayings? Photos of places? Fish? Drawings? Coral reef scenes? Something else? Give me your ideas and I will work on them. (I need to put my art degree to work.)

I like this one. Maybe we can woo the Scuba Toy dudes into carrying more T-shirts like this. Just wish they had it in White.
Ok it's not a chick T-shirt but I still like it.

Deep Down Aqua Lung Tee at Divers Direct - Scuba gear & equipment online dive catalog! (http://www.diversdirect.com/items/Deep-Down-Aqua-Lung-Tee_ID52675)

It is disappointing that they don't come in Women sizes Plus, Skin tight, ALL different sizes. No womans body is created equal. Some are Plus size, some are toothpicks, some are happy medium. It is like Bra sizes a 34DD on me is different than on a plus size girl. Bra sizes come in a million and three different sizes why shouldn't T-shirts!
:smiley20:
I think us girls should get together and start our own T-shirt company.
WE could sit around a huge table all day and when we come up with something good toss it to the sexy greek looking men we have at our beck and call and say "Here take this to the printer". And if we can't come up with something good we just say to heck with it for a few days and go diving.

AO has recentlly added a bunch of "classier" dive shirts. I commend them for that.

I thought that Uzzi dive wear went out of business? I guess not, or maybe they had a 'comeback'.

One thing about lots of dive t-shirts.... most women don't want to wear a shirt of a woman diver with her ass being the primary thing shown off in a thong (on the t-shirt).

Nor do they want their husband wearing trashy dive t-shirts to their kids little league games, etc.

Amphibious Outfitters once was one of the main companies that had the 'thong babes' on their shirts (with shirts like "Log some bottom time", but more recently they've come out with some recent better ones that are have a 'little more class'.

while the idea of a big tank decal might be neat... it promotes corrosion and traps moisture...
