I will be in Orlando in October and I should have one full day to dive. I wanna dive wrecks but which direction to go? Orlando is smack dab in the middle of the state - any recommendations?

go south... Either go out of Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale or the Keys.

If you want to go East about an hour and a half, try Sea Dogs Dive Center in New Smyrna Beach (just south of Daytona) http://www.seadogdiver.com/entrance.htm

I'll vote for New Smyrna Beach, also. My first trip to Florida was in the Orlando area and I was looking for some diving. I contacted a couple of dive ops on the gulf coast and was told diving isn't that great there that time of year. In fact, I believe I was told by one boat capt I couldn't pay him enough to dive the gulf that time of year. I've since learned the gulf by the panhandle is different, but apparently due west of Orlando isn't that great.
