I need help choosing a dive computer. I would like a nitrox capable computer. I don't want to spend more then $300. I dive local lakes and scuba parks and go to Cozumel a couple times a year. I would like to get something from Scuba Toys and not on Ebay. The 2 computers that I am thinking about are the Oceanic Geo and the Aeris XR-1 NX wrist computers. I like the Oceanic brand but have conserns about reading the smaller display under water. I have small wrist so the size might be good. I really want something easy to use. Please help me figure this out.

I would go with the aeris. I have an Aeris Atmos AI and absolutely love it. But your talking about $500-600 vs. the $300 your looking to spend.

Aeris and Oceanic are the same thing. You are fine going with either.

I know they are both good. But their has got to be some differences. Postives or negatives about each. I am really stuck.

Is the Aeris downloadable?

Ok. I think I am going to go with the Geo. I don't know if I would really use the downloading feature, but it would be their if I needed it. Also my main concern with this computer is if I could read the face of it easily under water. From what I have read, it looks like that is not a problem. If any of you know any negatives about the Geo speak now.

The Geo has won! Looks like a good computer, congrats!

the aeris is also downloadable, you just have to spend an extra $50 on the cable, whereas I believe the Oceanic comes with it...

they are the same unit, just slightly different display...

Whatever you get I would make sure that this is not something you are going to outgrow. It all will depends on how much you dive... But I would go for the computer that has the biggest display. It really makes a difference when you are underwater...
