They appear to be the same, but I know that some versions don't have the environmental seal, but it seems to show the divers-supply does.

The main difference is the DVT. The version without the DVT was discontinued about 2 years ago now. We might have some of the old stock remaining, or could get one maybe... but all ours are the newer version with the Dry Valve Technology.

looks like it... call up ST and mention the deal you see over there.... they should match it (again, assuming its the same)

edit: late post :) I see they already replied!!!

does the DVT really make that big price difference worth it?
i'd rather send my dad to the same place where i but my scuba stuff (where was that again? toys something... scubatoys it it? :smiley36:)

The DVT is really a neat feature... the other thing to keep in mind is the DVT version has a MAP price... I bet if you call Joe... although it won't be as cheap as a 2 year old discontinued version... it will be a much better deal. :smiley2:

If you live in Florida, do you really need an environmental 1st stage? They are usually design for cold/freezing water diving.

Or water that has a lot of junk in it..

If you are diving in water that has a lot of suspended particulate, enviro sealed is a good thing.

we dont do caves (yet) and i have been wanting to go to some springs and grottos etc...
the reason im looking at the reg is for the fact that it is a nice reg... with a price thats not bad at all...i use a mares v16 metal... and love it.
my brother is a cheap ass and wont buy a new reg (even though he does need it) so my dad is gonna end-up giving it as a x-mas gift.

does mares still make the v16/metal proton? does scubatoys have any in stock?

Sorry Larry-
But Divers-supply has a discount code you can enter at the check out....it is DS20 (DS-twenty). On orders of $150 or up, it will take20% off your charges. And they too bargain over the phone.....sometimes below the 20%..sometimes not. :::running and ducking::::
