The choice "neither, adolescent humor doesn't engage me, thanks" will, sadly, not get many votes.

South Park is great for situational comedy, Family Guy is geared more towards random slap-stick insta jokes.

My vote goes to Family Guy. It suits my ADD better. :smiley36:

Family Guy is different, irreverent and is destined to become a classic. Where else can you combine an Evil Monkey, Greased Up Deaf Guy and fighting a giant Chicken and have it last 6 seasons. Yeah, they canceled it twice, but they brought it back...

Lois: What's going on down here?
Stewie: Oh, we're playing house.
Lois: That boy's all tied up.
Stewie: Roman Polanski's house

I've gotta go South Park just b/c there are so many shows out there whose entire premise is based on the father being a useless dolt. SP is really funny although it's usually more than I'm willing to handle.

Both are funny, but Family Guy gets my vote hands down! Too many of my friends have called me a cross between Brian and Stewie not to be able to laugh at myself - I know, dualality, but hey, sometimes you want a martini, sometimes you want to take over the world, it really all depends on how much sleep you got the night before.

I havnīt had a TV hooked up to cable/sat for years..however....what I remember.....South Park is my style of humor...poke a stick at everyone...and make it funny.....Family Guy reminds me a little too much of the people I grew up around in the south.....which I like, but sometimes hits a little too close.......

"I'm going where the weather suits my clothes"

On another note, I think this line, drawn from "I'm going where the climate suits my clothes" actually should be labeled "Traditional" as it was recorded often in the '20s and '30s by numerous musicians. It is thought to have roots in the slave communities from before 1900...old, old, old.
And it still is one of my favorite lines ever!!!
And Jimmy rules!

01-28-2008, 08:03
I think they are both incredible shows, and I'm very glad Family Guy came back with some new episodes. But I have to say South Park is the better show. There is at least one or two episodes every season where I think "Oh my god, this is it. This is as far as they can push it." And without fail the next season they push it even further.

Somewhat related... did anybody see the Simpsons last night? Homer singing Nirvana and Bush knock-offs :smilie39:

I hope they still plan on making new episodes of Futurama. I did watch benders big score about 10 times. There is no better show on television! I wish they would have stayed on Cartoon Network though. Comedy Central doesn't play it nearly enough. There should be a monthly marathon! :smiley20:

Futurama!
I like South Park because it always has a point/moral, and its humor is more... um... intellectual, but once I've seen an episode, I don't want to see it again.
Family Guy I like because I am usually in on the 'in-jokes.' I am more willing to re-watch Family Guy, but most of the episode will be stale after the shock value wears off.
However, Futurama is so intrinsically funny that I never tire of any of the episodes.

South Park all the way. It's satirical, tackles serious issues, and points out hypocrisy without sounding like an afterschool special. It really is adult humor if you take the time to get over the rawness of it. Definately not adolescent.
