What is the best value in air-integrated computers. I want a good, easy to use air computer that is dependable and will be able to be serviced for a long time value priced.

Grab one of ST's Wisdom closeouts.

As confirmed by Sherwood (the OEM), the only difference between the Wisdom and Wisdom 2 is the color markings on the case.

Great price, intuitive readout, LARGE numbers for us with "more experienced" eyes.

I got one. I can't wait to use it!!! It is supposed to be a Christmas present, but I played w/ it before it was taken and put under the tree!! The readout (screen) is great. Large #s for easy glance.

How much did it cost?

Ditto on the Wisdom, I bought one used (3 dives) and saved a bundle. Large numbers, easy to use, and user replaceable battery.

I bought the aeris atmos AI and enjoy using it very much. cool looking and real easy to use. if you get the one w/o the compass then you looking at 400. you can shop around on line find the best price then ST or Leisurepro will match price.

FYI, the Atmos AI & the Wisdom are the same computer, both are made by Pelagic. I think they also make Oceanic computers, or at least some of them.

so what are the primary differences, besides the obvious exterior?

As far as I know...... the obvious exterior. Warranty is probably the same, there might be PC/Mac software differences.

Well you can't go wrong with the cobra 2 from Suunto. I have one really easy to use and read. Compared to the wisdom same price.

They are very similar. They show the same information and are
configured the same, and the buttons work the same.
The Wisdom has some additional information
on the screen because the screen is physically larger.
For example it has an extra text display field
that gives you extra information at various times. The Wisdom
also has a on board History that the AI does not have.

- The Wisdom extra display field on the the screen shows why your computer
is beeping, the AI does not have this.
On the AI, when you get an alarm, you kind of have to look at it and "guess"
why the alarm is going off, whereas the Wisdom tells you in text at the top.
The AI will usually blink a field to indicate why the alarm is going off but
its not always as obvious as on the Wisdom.

- Wisdom shows altitude setting in onboard log book for each dive, AI does not.
- Wisdom has a "History" mode in the onboard logbook, AI does not.
This shows maximum depth ever dived, total dives, total hours under water
and highest altitude dived. It is not lost even if battery dies.

- Because the display is larger, the bar graphs on the Wisdom have more
"bars". So for example while the AI may have 3 O2 bars, the Wisdom has 5.
It doesn't give more time, it just has better resolution.

- The Sherwood site requires that you register to see manuals and download.
- The Aeris web site allows anybody to access their site without login.
- The download cable costs alot more for the Wisdom.
- The PC software releases for the Wisdom are usually behind the AI.
For example, the initial 2.x software for the Wisdom lagged by more than a year. I think they are better now at getting releases out.
