I'm itching to use my Scuba Toys gift certs I got from Santa. I need a new compass. I have seen several very good reviews for the Suunto SK-7 compass. However, Scuba Toys carries the Dive Rite compass. Has anyone used the Dive Rite compass? Does it have the similar features as the SK-7, like the 30 degree tilt usability?

It doesn't have the 30 degree tilt, but otherwise looks like an excellent compass. I like that it comes with the option of the bungies instead of the wrist strap...very techie. It also has a nice low profile for better trim and will be less likely to get stuck in the straps as you remove your BC or harness. That said, the 30 degree tilt of the Suunto is hard to beat. It can all depend on how much you rely on a compass. I rely on mine alot.

Just bought the dive rite from ST... of course, have not used it yet... like the idea of the bungees...

It's pretty tough to beat the SK7 with a bungee mount (https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=47) from Deep Sea Supply (http://www.deepseasupply.com).
