I'm not sure iether, but you could give them a call at (918) 296-FISH (3474)

Or shoot their volunteer department an e-mail and ask. vol@okaquarium.org (vol@okaquarium.org)

On thier volunteer page, these are some of the basic requirements:
General Program Requirements and Expectations:

Participate and successfully complete all requirements for our training course and demonstrate the ability to interact well with other people.
12 month commitment with a minimum of 4 hours per week.
Adhere to dress codes and all other rules established for all Oklahoma Aquarium Employees and other Staff.

I have been trying to volunteer there for 2 years with no luck. The lady in charge of volunteer never returns emails or phone calls. I tried to complain to her bosses but was told by receptionist that there was no one to complain to. Back in Aug. I finally did get my name added to a list to take a class that all scuba volunteers have to take. I was told that they only do a class once a year and it is usually in the fall. I was never called. I don't know if it is true or not but was told that the people in charge of the divers had quit. Now that Chrismas is over I may have to try again. I will let you know how it goes.

Oklahoma Aquarium is in Jenks, Tulsa didn't want it back then. They're sorry now. Jenks is getting ready to blow Tulsa out of the water with all the develope planned around the Aquarium in the near future.

i called and talked to somebody up there, and they told me that there was a huge waiting list, something like 2 years, so i gave up on that. We've got a small freshwater aquarium at our mall, that's about 9 ft deep, and about 25 feet long, and i've got a deal worked out with them to do the cleaning and a little mini show 1 saturday a month for the kids. It'll be fun, i'm looking forward to it.

It's at the arrowhead mall, at Main and Martin luther king streets. It's a really small little aquarium. But it's got alot of fish in it, 6 or 7 Catfish, some gar, bass, striper, minnows, blue gill, perch. The actual address to the mall is 501 N. Main., and the aquarium is next to the movie theather in the food court.

Finally someone returned one of my calls from the Aquarium. She is the one in charge of all volunteers. She said someone has taken over the Scuba diver program and would soon be setting up a new class. She didn't say when just soon. As soon as she gets some more information she said she would call or send me an email. My experience with her over the past couple of years has been very good. I still plan on calling about once a week till I get more information. The lady in charge never seems to be in and doesn't return calls or emails unless you get a little belligerent in your messages.

I received an email today from Bill Dausses at the Oklahoma Aquarium. He is the new Dive Safety Officer. He is putting together a list of divers interested in volunteering at the Aquarium and evaluating them. If you are interested you need to call the Aquarium at 918-296-3474 and talk to Karen Dills.
