Have you looked at Hammerhead Scuba (http://www.hammerheadbackplates.com/sta.htm)? They have 1 in the 5 pound range. But you might be better off with a channel weight pocket (http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?product_id=OxyCheqSausageWeightPocket). Or even make your own channel weight. Since you don't need cam band slots in the STA, the channel weight might be more to your liking.

Thanks for the replies. I've been checking ebay (nice Halcyon wsta went for $110 this weekend), and I was thinking theHammerhead may be my best choice if buying new.

I didn't know about that Oxycheq solution! My two main questions: Anyone know if it takes plain lead shot or soft lead pouches (the bean bag weights)? Also, would this interfere with capacity of a storage pocket like the MC pack?

And it (the storage pocket) attaches to the outside holes rather than the holes where the wing attaches.

Yeah, the MC pocket attaches to the outside holes. I was thinking more about how far the weight pocket might extend past the channel "spine" of the backplate, reducing the space for stored items (or possibly uncomfortably resting against your spine).

Kind of rest over your rear. I think the channel weight pocket would mold to your back with the soft weights. I haven't used the oxycheq solution, so I don't know, but I'd be surprised if you even noticed it at all.

Is this what you mean by MC pocket (http://scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=Oxy_Cheq_Back_Plate_Pad)?

Yeah, it's essentially the same thing as the Halcyon product. That little "beavertail" flap at the bottom doesn't extend past the backplate. It sits flush with the bottom of the plate, and the flap is shaped like that to make room for where the harness snakes back into the bp to form the waist strap.
