View Full Version : Need help to id this fish

I shot this 2 weeks ago in St Thomas. Depth was about 55-60 feet. The fish was somewhere about 10 inches long. He was skitish, and this was as close as I could get to him. I've never seen one of these before and I can't identify it.

That is a really easy one, if you have one of the fish ID books. Cannot for the life of me remember it's name.. argggggggg.

The detail on the head is hard to make out. Could it be a lizardfish?

That is definitely a lizardfish. Took a field ichthyology class recently and spent plenty of time with them.

Yep, it's a Lizardfish. Also called a Sand Diver.
