View Full Version : How Long Did it take you?

So a lot of people talk about how they're addicted to this forum and about graduating from tadpoles to become groupers. I was thinking, how long did it take you to reach that 250 post turning point or how long do you think it will take for you to reach that point. I wonder if someone ever did it in a week. I'll start:
I've got 80 posts in about a week, so I figure at this rate I'll have those posts in about 2 more weeks.

That's fast.

Knowing you have a problem is the first step towards curing an addiction.

Not long for me, but I didn't exactly count until near the end of that period.

If I remember, it took about 2 months for me. Maybe a little less.

i believe i've been a member here for about 3 weeks now..

it's hard to NOT post and ask so many questions. i'm a relatively new diver, certified in october, and all of the knowledge that you can gain from this board is ridiculous!

I broke 200 last about a week and a half ago-Its hard to say how long it will take due to the time factor. If things are slow at work I have time to hang out on the board and post. When things pick up I wont have as much time. I am hoping to get to 250 by the end of the month, but the dive season does not start until May up here so I have a few months before things get rolling. I want one of these with my gift cert...

I feel like I am on here all the time. And still I'm no where near 250. I'll get their someday. I like a goal.

Basis what I've seen it's hard to imagine someone making more than 4 or 5 useful posts per day. That would put you at a couple of months minimum unless you're posting stuff just to run up your post count. I watch the posts per day drop for lot's of people after the magic 250 is reached. Which indicates to me that they might be running up the post count. But, hey, that's the incentive structure.

Not that anyone on here would do run up their post counts with useless drivel. :smiley2:

Just over 6 weeks for me. But then I went looking for interesting threads, then started a few just to get some discussion going. And someone hit one of my hot buttons - Adorama/Liesure Pro and *THAT* drove it up.

I feel like I post a lot.... and I'm only in the 130 post range.

I have belonged to another forum (for radio control planes) for about three years, and I'm only about 550 or 600 posts over there.

I can't imagine haveing 500 or 1000 posts in three or four months..... there's not enough to talk about. Some people just like to be heard I guess.

I've been working at it for about 2 months and try not to post drivel, but sometimes it just happens. Oops, there I go again.

I kind of like to post all sorts of stuff even though I probably get off subject and post drivel sometimes. Though it is sometimes fun to get off topic (like right now :smiley2:)

While the 250th post will be nice. I'm looking to start threads that will provoke a lot of conversation. Someone above mentioned an incentive, don't forget the monthly give away, even after you hit 250.

I'm almost there to 250. :D

2 to 3 posts a day. Figure about 3 months will get me there. Slow and steady wins the race.

Can't dive for a while here in Ontario, so I'm in no rush.

I think it took me about 6 months to get to 250.

I'm a founding member, but I'm still short of 200. I do the internet like everything else I do in life all or nothing, seeing the middle ground as I shoot past it! Also I have only 62 dives in a 18 month period since I started, so I'm pretty much talked out: I've shared about all my knowledge, expreience and even photos. So I mostly get the count up by responding to posts like this! BTW, I don't really need any more gear at the moment, so there is no real incentive to reach Grouper status.

What's it mean to be a founding member? does it mean you signed up on the forum around its creation?

When I read the $10 = 10 post and $50 = $250 I thought there was no way I would ever get 250 posts in a forum like this. But then I signed up and looked through the forum and realized its actually a community and not just people randomly posting to get store credit. I've added this to my 3-4 favorite forums I visit and post on a regular basis. I figure with normal posting (not inflated stupid I want $$$ posting) I'll hit 250 in less than a month, can't beat that.

Yes, the forum started July 10, 2007 and I think pretty much anyone that joined in the first few weeks to the first month have "Founding Member" attached to them.

I admit that the $10 for 10 was one of the main reasons I joined. But know that I've reached my 10 I find myself checking the forum every day. My wife thinks I've got an online girlfriend.

I admit it.....I'm a scubatoy addict....I did it...completed step 1.
can I get a hug?:smiley31:

I actually ordered for the first time then a few hours later stumbled upon the forum when doing a google search. Its been a week now and I'm already at 150. I thought it would take me months, then I changed it to a month, now I'm thinking a couple weeks or less till I hit 250!

no long... first few weeks of the board being up... i think i was amongst the first few (if not the first)

and yes... admitting you have a problem is the first step in curing it... but this is a fun problem. plus, if i dont do this... i'll be checking where my box is every few minutes. (gets here tomorrow :) hurray)
