Is there a way to sort based on price? Brand? Etc....

If not this would be a great feature to eventually have.

Im from the south and we have SOUTHERN ENGINEERING and if we cant afford it we build it. I used to swim for catfish and have tied a garden hose to a cleat on my boat and use it as a 30ft snorkel.

ps. it makes you really light headed.

Yup. Rebreathing your own exhaled air is fun! :smiley29:

lol it was a mild oversight.

Now, I am from the North. Rhode Island to be specific. Living in Hawaii now. But more importantly, I was a Marine. Marines are taught to adapt and overcome.

So, in response to breathing your own exhaled air....hmmm.....

Attach the hose to a snorkel that has a clearing valve on it. (Exhaled air will escape that way.)

In between the snorkel and the hose put a one way valve that lets air in, but not out.

Use lots of duct tape.

:smiley17:

No, I am not serious. Could be used in the event of emergency....and if you are McGyver.

Uh... there's that whole boyles law and pressure thing that would make anything longer than about 3 feet impossible to inhale from... But if you can suspend the laws of physics - as in a TV show... it would work. :smiley5:

Longer than 3 feet? No. I can take a breathe from a 12' hose no problem (at the surface).

DEEPER than 3 feet, on the other hand, you'll need a pressurized air supply, because you won't be able to physically overcome the water pressure to get surface pressure air into your lungs.

Shallower than 3' it would work... with effort... but unless you exhale through your nose, the exhaled air doesn't make it out the other end of the hose, and you just suck the same breath back in. Eventually (as in within a couple of breaths) you won't be getting enough o2 anymore and light-headedness will result.

That's why snorkels are the length they are. Longer ones do not exchange the air fully enough. They figured this out a long time ago... too long a snorkel, and people pass out. :smiley2:

yup noodling.
you guys have seen the pbs special on noodling, right?

I was watching with (texas) friends and the weigh in was at Bob's Pig shop in Pauls Valley, OK. One of them asked me "didn't you take us there before?" Guilty! I am just glad none of my high school classmates were on the show.

I had no clue what noodling was until less than a year ago when some of the guys I worked with where joking around about how these 3 guys that where installing security cameras where state noodling champions (no clue what state). I had to ask what it was and then wikipedia filled in the rest.

And I dont even like using a snorkel. And here people are using hoses. I must be missing something. Id like the option to sort by price at least.

Read the description: "The main air tank is actually a garden sprayer, and holds about 8 liters (2 gallons) of air compressed at 40psi." "This design allows us to dive for 2 minutes straight, 10 or 11 feet underwater."

They're breathing compressed air, which is the whole point against using a plain hose to the surface (read: uncompressed air).
