OK, I'm curious... do any issues exist breast implants when diving? MEDICAL issues/concerns, just want to clarify my question in case any guys are lurking.

Not that it's an immediate concern... but it doesn't hurt to get educated...

Just wondering if the pressure could be a problem (doesn't seem like it should be an issue), if they move... just whatever?

Anyone?

I have never heard about any issues with them. I am sure if you decided to get them it would be good to discuss with your doctor to get the right type.

My "boobs" are one year old and I asked my surgeon if it would impact my diving since he was a fellow diver... all he said is you might need a new wet suit :) Here is my first purchase with the new girls :)

Back in the 80's, Fathom wet suits made a similar cut wetsuit that a gal had when we dove the Red Sea, the first dive, she immediately added an additonal top-looks nice but very cold!

My wife has implants. The only adjustment she makes is to add a bit more neoprene as they do tend to get cold. Just add a vest and you should be fine.

Dear lord...Gs??? God I love this country!!! :smiley_salute:

But seriously, since there is no air or other gas in implants to compress at depth (just like our natural organs and tissue) I can't imagine there are any issues.

I planned mine around my winter break with school but lack of diving is another great reason. I would doing a pool session with your equipment when you feel up for diving again because your BC will fit different and you don't want to be rusty after the months off recovering.

I was channel surfing and there was a episode of Mythbusters from 2003, They checked it out themselves by putting it in a pressure tank to depth and immeadeatly going to 30,000 feet altitude with no change. Then went to Duke for confirmation. They showed them results of a study that show that an implant did increase in size up to 50% at certain pressures, but to be at that pressure the host of the implants would be long dead.

However it really isn't as relevant since diving has to do with high pressure at depth rather than low pressure at altitude.

Is it me, or did you just contradict yourself? :)

I he didn't contradict himself, just gave a reason why woman would want to change their natural look... his statement actually enforces the idea that he has an inability to understand why a woman would want to change her natural look. Just to let me point it out what that reason is: "They look great"

uhmmm..... how can you count "breast implants" as a tax deduction?

I'm assuming that by tax write off you mean that you put money in your work "medical spending account" that is not taxed and then used that money?

But then again, I've seen media coverage of exotic dancers counting boob jobs as "business expenses". :smilie39:

Eurodiver, do you find it hard to find bikini bottoms to cover up you tummy tuck scar? It seems the bottoms these days are so tiny.

Not really.
I can still wear sting bikini's and low riders.
The only part that shows is a 1" vertical scar where my old belly button was. {the new one is much cuter}
So when we go to like Spain the first place I hit is the Tattoo shop and get a cool looking henna tattoo for fun to cover it up and it lasts like 2 weeks. And while that is setting I go to the Dive shop and make dive plans. We never dive the first day.
So any way my skin just wouldn't stretch any more to incorporate it in the horizontal one. Normally depending on how much skin you have to loose and stretch you wouldn't have that. My doctor even asked what kind of bikini I plan on wearing afterward. So I told him string Brazilian mostly, so he cut accordingly.
I had my tummy tuck because I had both my kids C-section like 100 years ago and my scar was stuck to the muscle basically. And once you have kids your top AB muscles will never go back together. So he pulled those together and now it took about 5 weeks to get a 6 pack or 4 in most womens cases.
Well worth the money.

Suffice it to say, most dive gear is not flattering at all. If you are using a dive skin to ease getting in and out of your wetsuit it really doesn't lose any functionality if it is low cut in front.

A dive skin that "low cut" kinda defeats the purpose of any thermal protection.

basically with 'cleavage' hanging down like that, that would work as a 'scoop' to funnel water into the suit and maybe the ocassional jelly fish.

but it would be good for wearing under a wetsuit like you described.

( I doubt though that you would see few others on the dive boat complaining.... :smilie39:)

Dive skins donít have any thermal protection. They are worn under a wet suit.

Actually, they do provide a SMALL amount of thermal protection.

They are worn under wetsuits.

They are also worn by themselves for protection against salps, jellys, etc. They also provide some solar protection when snorkeling.

Seriously, I'm curious as to where she got her dive skin. I'm interested in getting one.

:smilie39:)

For those of your wondering.... It does zip all the way up & its a henderson skin....

Well, there goes my idea. I was just going to tell you a great place to put your pony bottle, but if it zips up all the way, that wouldn't work.

[quote=BeachBunnyCrissy;133568]My "boobs" are one year old and I asked my surgeon if it would impact my diving since he was a fellow diver... all he said is you might need a new wet suit :) Here is my first purchase with the new girls :)
