View Full Version : The great TP debate

02-25-2008, 13:23
Okay, I know it's a bit odd-ball, but on another forum (for years ago) we had a great thread that turned out to be (believe it or not) the most popular (over 2000 posts (good ones not spam). So I thougt, heck the divers I know have a sense of humor and are quite opinionated, so why not post it here!

I tried to add a "poll option" but the site would'nt let me add any questions to the poll:smiley11: sorry, if admin can fix this, awesome, if not no worries.

Anyways, here is the question:

Is it better to roll your Toilet paper over the top, or from underneath on the roller, and why?

In my case, I do it over the top, cleaner and easier, so, IMNSHO (In My Not-So-Humble Opinion) better!

Okay, waiting to see the verdict:smilie40:

Over the top...easier to access the end.

Answer 3 reminds me of this (http://video.aol.com/video-detail/commercial-parody-sandy-toilet-paper/1022529544)

Over the top. Easier to access. Ripping a few squares off is easier and less likely to pull half the roll.

Nice Rye,

But what do you think on this all-important western life question?

It's almost as big as should you leave the toilet seat up or down? (I go down personally, cleaner looking!):smiley2:

I one step ahead of you...answered in post #2.

02-25-2008, 14:27
Sorry I missed it Rye!

Tell your friends about this poll, LOL makes a great "down time" question!

Dive Safe!

02-25-2008, 14:42
Sure...I'll make sure to slip in a mention of the poll right after the fold or wad conversation that I so often have with people.

02-25-2008, 15:00
because its easier to pool down or out from the top vs the bottom

02-25-2008, 15:11
I prefer the John Wayne TP.. its rough its tough, and it wont take sh!t from no one...

02-25-2008, 15:52
OTT! But sometimes the roll never makes it on the dispenser... :)

02-25-2008, 17:09
be a man use your hand sorry couldnt help myself lol

02-25-2008, 17:15
At work we have dispensers that hold four rolls and dispense 'from the side'. When there are four full rolls, they rub together and so the roll doesn't easily turn. You yank off a strip of TP, and it breaks off the roll inside the unit, so you have to reach up and in and try to start it roll again. Pain in the A$$. That's my rant.

Over the top...easier to access the end.

Huh??? What's that got to do with the paper? :smiley2:

I was trying to think of something funny to post but I couldn't.
Maybe tomorrow!

02-25-2008, 21:23
over the top. it keeps the little dog from getting any ideas.

02-25-2008, 22:08
I have a friend who has his PHD in Molecular engineering. he's pretty anal (no pun intended) about the way he does things....

anway, he's an "over the top" type person.

just for fun, about once or twice a month when I was over there I'd turn his toliet paper over to "from below" just to mess with him. This went on for about 2 years.

Finally one night after many drinks and telling war stories he said "... and if I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch who's been messing with my toliet paper.... I'lll...... "

At that point and time I looked at his wife and went... "he doesn't know?"

she said "no...." we start laughing....

by this time my friend can't figure out what's been going on but it hits him. his reaction was pretty funny. maybe not funny to read here, but one of those "you have to be there" kind of funny.

03-05-2008, 18:57
I understand mike, that's the reaction that i got from a lot of folks on the other poll. people tend to repeat the "style" that they grew up with. Some made reasons like: "so the cat won't unroll it" or whatever, but it is still a funny debate. and a good way to push someones buttons when you visit thier house.:smiley20:

03-05-2008, 19:09
I'm over the top...but my pet peeve is going to a public restroom with the gigantic dispensers and finding the tp broke off waaaay up inside there. Good thing I have small hands.

03-05-2008, 19:59
over the top.

03-07-2008, 15:21

03-08-2008, 07:41
If it makes it to the roller, over the top, if not a wad around the hand who cares which way it rolls off of.

03-09-2008, 12:01
I read someplace that you use less by pulling from the bottom. Don't know and don't care.

03-09-2008, 14:58
As long as there's some on the roll, I personally don't care. Unlike my wife and son, I always "look" to see if there's any there before I "sit" down. I hate getting up from the computer to hand a roll in (LOL) !!!

03-09-2008, 22:17
Always over the top. I don't know why, but it bugs the (pun here) outta me if it's the other way. :smilie39:

03-09-2008, 22:32
over the top it much easier

Looks like over the toppers are leading strong, keep going (pun intended).

03-14-2008, 18:21
over the top for sure

03-14-2008, 18:29
Well yeah...over the top makes sense! (didn't some sit-com years back state that if you are above the Equator, it's over the top, and below the Equator under???)

Now if I could get my wife to comply this world would be a MUCH better place!

03-14-2008, 18:37
Generally, over the top, but if I happen to load it the other way, oh well... life's to short to be *bad pun* retentive about stuff like that.

Just easier over the top:smiley20:

03-14-2008, 21:02
My TP roll stand Vertical

03-15-2008, 07:59
Over the top so it doesn't rest against the wall. If it goes under, everyone who uses it touches the wall, hence germs!
