I have two of the Aeris Nomads, and have been able to carry those on several times. However, I do NOT think it will actually fit in that metal frame tester they have at the airport.

Weight is the only restriction with this bag. One thing I don't like about it is the outside reg bag. I would always fill that pocket with clothes and put the regs inside for air travel but I've changed bags since. I do use it for car trips to dive sites though.

I have that bag, and like it, overall, for boat dives (on larger boats, it's too big for 6-packs) and pool sessions where I need to wheel everything onboard in one trip if possible. It's heavy enough I probably won't use it for air travel due to weight restrictions.
Most shore dives are done gearing up at my car so I prefer a simple rubbermaid tub or ActionPacker that I can toss dripping gear into afterwards without getting my car wet and dirty. |

Ihave that bag as well and I like it ok, but it is a little big and bulky. i also have this one http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=Akona226DuffelBagand i like it much better. Although it is a little smaller, i feel that overall i can cram more stuff into it. Plus with the straps that go over the outside of the bag you can hook another bag or a drysuit to it and wheel around 2 bags at once.

I wouldn't use any "dive" bag for airlines, as they are good way to let people/airline staffs to know that it's a dive bag and there are values in it. They will steal stuff out of your bag - it has happened to some people. I suggest you to go humble and get regular travel bags.

<DIV>I agree to a point. The Akona bags are used for gear, but not always. And they don't have a big dive flag on them. I have the new Akona duffle, and it's a great travel bag. I've used it on my latest trip, and it held everything including some of my clothes. (Note: I carry on my regs, computer & lights). I don't really like the gear bags with all the pockets. It's easier not to have to fit the fins in the fin pockets.</DIV> |
