mesh duffle with sholder strap

So I am looking for a large mesh bag. All of the ones I find seen to have either wheels (which I do not want as I want to be able to pack this inside of my checked luggage, ie. the mares mesh that folds up really small), or they do not have shoulder straps? Why would they make a large bag without shoulder straps? Does anyone know of one, preferably under $50?

Stahlsac Bonaire Mesh backpack .... my DH just got one to replace his old bag. Very large and very light. Bonus feature is it has an actual true dry compartment built in.

Of course ST carries it!

I use a mesh backpack/duflle. It has two shoulder straps and a side zipper. Whole thing folds up into the outer pocket for travel. I think I paid ~$35 for a generic brand. Here's a link to something similar

I have the Stahlsac Bonaire Mesh backpack and the Stahlsac Panama Mesh backpack. The Bonaire model is slightly larger than the Panama model. Both have dry/semi-dry internal pockets. Neither bag has a full-length side zipper that would be nice to access items at the bottom of a loaded bag. Nevertheless, both are excellent choices in my opinion. I have had both for years, and they have served me well on tropical vacations to Cozumel, local boat dives in the San Diego area, and dives at Catalina Island. I hear that Stahlsac customer service is good, but I've never had to use it.

Many other manufacturers sell similar mesh backpacks (with shoulder straps). I also own a Deep Outdoors Bahia mesh backpack that I can highly recommend. I believe that ScubaToys offers one with their logo on it, but I don't have any experience with it.

I have an Akona backback, I do not like it (backpacks in genera) for boat trips as it is a pain to get my zeagle brigade in it (along with everything else) when everything, mainly my wetsuit, is wet and weighted down, and the boat rocking, I just find it easier to keep the BC out and pack it/walk it to my car once we get to shore.

I would prefer a duffle style that opens along the length of the bag.

The Armor Amphibian might be what you're looking for. It's a duffel with both wet and dry compartments. I don't think ScubaToys carries it, though. One of the active posters on this board owns one and speaks highly of it. Hopefully, he'll see this thread and post his comments.

I've got the Stahlsac Panama and like it quite a bit.
I can fit all my gear in it, BC, fins, boots, light, SMB, regs. If I fit everything in there really well, I can also get a 3mm full in there as well.

All in all a good gear bag.

I own the Armor Amphibian #91. It's a great bag. And you can order it from Jow at ScubaToys and get your 10% discount. That's what I did. In fact, Joe ordered two: mine, plus another. he may still have that second one he ordered. if so, it's $70 minus the discount.

Very large and roomy. Very rugged. Not that thin mesh crap. The thick mesh weave is rubberized as well. Compresses nicely and has shoulder straps.

I also like that there is no mesh on the bottom. Were that the case, then eventually the heavy gear would wear a hole through the mesh. In the Amphibian's case, the bottom material is thick. The Dry Bag (included), is as big as the main bag itself. So, you can pack all your gear and dry clothes for one of those cramped boats, such as the M/V Spree or M/V Fling or Blackbeard.

I'de vote for the Akona Mesh Backpack. packs well and holds a lot. I will admit that I have to make a decision when using it, I can't fit both my BC and wet 7mm farmer john in at the same time. Works out OK though. Just wear the BC and throw the wetsuit in the bag.

Maybe this Armor bag will fit your needs ... it has the rings for a shoulder strap, but lists as optional in the description ...
