XS Scuba wheeled mesh duffle - anyone check this?

Going on my first trip w/ my XS Scuba wheeled mesh duffle. It seems VERY sturdy but is it sturdy enough to check? Would you want to check it given that its see through mesh?

I'm planning on just putting it in my "dive suitcase" which is an old suitcase pretty much on its last legs, but it's very close to 62" size limit and getting close to 50#.

How long do you think the XS bag will last if checked each trip (figure twice a year).

I definately would not use mine for air travel. With it being mesh, you are asking for your gear to dissappear. I'm sure it's plenty sturdy and you could put it in another bag, but it's also going to mess you up weight wise. I bought a Samsonite wheeled duffel at Costco for $40 that I use. It's sturdy, has wheels. is light, had hidden backpack straps, and is well designed. I'd look for something similar.

Kinda what I figured Jack. I've got an old suitcase that I use for dive gear. It's boxy, black, beat up and perfect for this use! Was thinking though maybe I could just use this but it'll be for schlepping from the hotel to the dive boat and back.

The suitcase is big enough for my 3mm, Ranger LTD, fins, boots, dry bag, XS Scuba wheeled duffel and mask. Have slightly less than 10# to spare on the weight as well. I'll carry on the reg and computer.

I've had one for 4 years, and do exactly what you are suggesting.
It goes inside another rolling duffel for the plane, then , after arriving at the resort, I use it get to the boat and back.
it does add to the weight, but your overall idea works.

Ya, I've thought better of checking just the stuff in it and will pack it inside the "scuba suitcase"!

Thanks all!

You could also put it into a regular non-rolling duffel for the plane. Simply tuck it inside the duffel right before you check it, then at the baggage carousel at the end of the flight, pull it out, tuck the outside duffel inside the roller, and roll away. Might save a few pounds by now having 2 sets of wheels.
