Just wondering: has anyone ever tried using a Zip-lock baggie to hold their paper money, phone, CC and DL & then put that inside one of these boxes?

I've got the one russp linked too. Worked fine until one day and flooded. Problem is the o-ring got a little pinched and that it all it took. Good box, just keep an eye on the oring.

@Draq:
I've been to Bonaire twice. I never felt the need to carry a cell phone with me on dives or keep my money dry. Just leave the credit card in your roomsafe along with the other valuables. I stuck my driver's license in the pocket of my trunks along with a few bills. Car and apartment keys were slipped onto a split ring attached to one of my D-rings. No issues with key corrosion or magnetic strip corruption. I just rinsed it all (except for the bills) in some fresh water after the dive.

If you must carry all that junk with you, then I think 3rdEye is onto something. Here's a link to an OMS closeout sale on the OMS BCA 298 660' depth rated canister. I think it might be the right size for you. Dimensions: 8.19" OAL x 2.0" ID x 2.38" OD. It's possible for several types of cell phones to fit inside. You'll have to figure out how to lash it to your rig, but it will definitely work. And it will only set ya back $42. Scubatoys sells it for $47.

It's a pack rat's dream dive accessory. Heck, you could even stick a couple of snacks in there. Beef jerky. Granola bar. Twizzlers. Go crazy. Make phone calls as you kick out to your drop-in point. Can you hear me now. Can you hear me now...

Have fun on your dive vacation.

I agree with bubble trouble. I went to Bonaire in September and we only carried a room key clipped to the d ring in my pocket. Left everything else in the room safe. Figured we were going back to the room to freshen up before dinner anyway.

Have done several trips to Bonaire using an Otterbox 9000. DH uses the 1000. I carry sunglasses, keys, ID, money, credit card and some eye drops. (I dive with contacts in.) He has prescription glasses, so he'd carry those and his ID, maybe a few bucks. Never had any problems with the boxes leaking or popping open.

I tried some $$ in a dry pouch that came with a bathing suit last time I was in Bonaire. The pouch stayed dry only as long as the suit. While their paper money had no problem getting wet, their coins rusted a bit after a couple days in the pouch. Next time I plan on sticking $$ and CC in a zippered pocket of my swim suit and keys on a lanyard around my neck.

You just need to keep water out, pressure will not crush money, CC, ID, etc. I did a quick search for waterproof bag and came across this: Waterproof Bags

Look at the Aloksak. Good for 220 ft.

or there are these:

I haven't found that ziplocs are especially waterproof even at shallow depths. Maybe if your box just had a little leak it would help, but not if it got much water in the box. I wouldn't trust my cell phone to one.

I've used the 2nd one for over 5 years now. Never leaked a drop. It was just wide enough for a CC, some cash and room/truck keys on Bonaire.

Looks just like the one my buddy had. Worked great for several dives, then one day he heard a muffled pop from his pouch and found it had imploded at depth and everything was soaked.

If it doesn't have a depth rating, don't trust it. If it does... consider how important it is to bring the stuff down with you anyway.

Those OMS tubes are about the only thing I'd really trust. Well-proven design.
