You could get a large rolling bag, but I don't know how well two complete sets of gear will fit. I think you might actually end up needing two bags. The other thing that I've seen a lot of people do is to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a large plastic case that rolls. Some even have straps across the top that can be used to secure a tank. These seem to be the most durable option for protecting gear. I've been thinking of picking up one or two for myself and the Mrs.

<DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>I have always used 1 large wheeled duffel....with weight restrictions...We have had to split upour gearinto two smallerseparate duffels...we usually try and find cheap ones at walmart target etc....that way if they get torn up easy to replace....it makes it a little more cumbersome hauling more luggage but we haven't had to pay overweight charges yet.. here is what we have now and have used for three trips and they are still in good shape http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5222987

For traveling, I use a couple of no-name suitcases I got on sale somewhere years ago.
<DIV></DIV> <DIV>For the boat I bought a Pinnacle mesh duffel bag that I love. It's sturdy, large enough for 2 sets of gear, and I can just dunkthe whole bagin the rinsetank on the way out. </DIV> |

When I pack, I split the gear into two bags; a large rolling duffle and a big hard-side suitcase. BCDs, mask boxes, etc go into the hard case for protection. Fins, neoprene and our mesh bags go into the duffel. (Regs always get hand-carried.)

I bought a couple 2-bag luggage sets for my wife and Iat Sam's a few years ago and about 20 trips later they are stll doing fine. Each larger bag holds a full set of gear plus plenty of room for other stuff and the smaller bags tend to catch somde of the small heavy stuff to stay within the 50lb weight restriction on the larger bags. And they don't wave the "scuba diver's bag" flag.
<DIV></DIV> <DIV>BTW, watch the empty weight on the bags you select. A friend of mine just bought an XS Scuba dive bag which looks like a nice, well builtbag but weighs in a 12 lb, empty. That eats up about 25 % of the bags weight allowance</DIV> |

I agree with you awap. I've been using a couple of theses but both large size. They are light, cheap and protect all my checked gear including my camera housing and all my dive gear including regs.

My wife bought this one for me for my Birthday.. or was it Christmas?
http://www.stahlsac.com/products/W406-B.shtml Doesn't scream diver and holds all of my equipment. As for air travel, you'd have to check it. I used it on a cruise. Michael |

We just got some hard luggage at the samsonite outlet - cheap on clearance and a 10 year warrantee against everything except airline damage(which the airline should cover). They sell some cases without linings so you don't have to worry about wet gear!I just couldn't see paying for a bag specialized for scuba just to throw underneath the airplane which may or may not get damaged.
