Hard to meet weight limits with 2 sets of gear in a bag. I think best to do one person one bag and top them off with clothes (which can provide padding.) And most fins would be hard to carry on.

Rye,
You've broken my mental paint brush... Excuse me while I poke out my mind's eye!

I know - I need to "load up" the bag this weekend and see how it goes - I may be going out to find another one (or two) smaller ones. The bag does have an internal zipper/divider / so that is also nice.

Spray paint is an effective theft deterent. People might take a black "look alike" bag because they will not be noticed. But if the bag has a day-glow green stripe 8 inches wide all the way around it the potential theaf knows that he could be spotted 200 feet away.

My sister had pink duct tape which we repo-ed to use for our bags, put a couple of wraps around a bag and it's pretty obvious that it's your bag.

I use a regular 28" suitcase with wheels that I bought at Mervyn's for $50. It's black with dark purple flowers and easy to spot!! It weighs 7 lbs and I can fit everything in it with room to spare... Going I take my reg, computer, main mask, suit and 1 days spare change of clothes with me. On the way back I pack everything in the suticase. If it gets stolen on the way home then that's what homeowners insurance is for. :-)

On sale for $160!? That's a lot for a rolling duffel...

Not just weight, this measures 66 inches total which is more than the 62 inch airline limit total. Since part of it seems to be soft sided there might not be a problem but as they seem to be getting more strict on baggage you might want to be careful. The oversize luggage fees on the airline I fly are $80 each way.
