Zeagle Scout BC

I found a great deal on the Zeagle Scout BC at Zeagle Scout BC BCD Bouyancy Compensator: unrealfind. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on this BC. I'm a poor college kid and cheap is definitely the language I speak. I'm sure that their are many better BC's, but I want to know if this $200 BC will get the job done?
Thanks,
Trey

Same advice as with your reg. In fact, you will do even better if you call and set up your own package. Those guys are experts and will help you with gear decisions.

Fish eater, I don't understand your message. Who should I call and what advice with my reg? Did you post somewhere else that I should know about?
Thanks

zeagle won't be sending new ones out until the end of march. People have been waiting since the end of last year for these to come back out.

Zeagle does make a good product & gives a life time warranty on their bc's, so it's hard to go wrong with any of their stuff.

the scout is made with a lighter weight material than the brigade & ranger.

Never mind. I had too many windows open and too many distractions.

I have aScout and plan on using it for my warm water work-the only kind I do now. I use 14 lbs of weights (10 on a belt and four in the BCD). I couldn't be happier with the Scout. Great fit and with the double bands hold the tank very securely. Plently of pocket storage and rides very well both underwater and on the surface. I had been a bit concerned about the 24lbs of lift, but it is more than enough. The light weight is great for packing.

I only do warm water diving. In rental gear, I've used 10lbs with a 3mm farmer john and 4-6lbs with a shorty. The Zeagle Scout sounds like a great travel BCD for me.

Are there any issues with putting all the weight in the back trim pockets?

Is end of March still looking good for stock?

I'm 32" waist (Small) and 19" shoulder to waist (Medium). Should I go for a men's medium? I'm not getting any shorter but I might get a bit more waistline

Kevin,

If you put the full 20# possible in the trim pockets plus the weight of a full tank and your reg etc., 24# of lift wouldn't be be enough to float your rig. Realistically you're not going to put that much weight in the trim pockets anyways, especially if you're diving warm water. I dive with a full 7mm john/jacket and put 8# in my trim pockets and one on my tank yoke. 12# goes on a belt. I had ST put a 35# on my Scout just to be sure I had some extra capacity. Honestly, I could probably have used the 24# bladder myself.

beluga,

I have a 33 inch waist and the medium is working well for me with my 4/3 full suit and my 7mm john/jacket both. I wouldn't have wanted a small. I guess it depends on what kind of suit you're using. I'd suggest giving ST a call - they helped me out.

I tried using mine in the pool the other night with my 4/3 and 9# in trims and on neck. I was a bit overweighted but that was ok for the shallow water anyway. I did notice that if I turned on my side I would tend to roll over. It was manageable but I'm going to try moving 60% of my weight to a belt like I do with my cold water set-up.
