I have the XL TransPlate. It lives on a shelf in my closet.
There are a lot of nice things about it that I really like. But for me, there were a couple of things about it that annoyed me, so I tried the hog harness instead. Turns out I liked it better. Oops... guess those people were right after all! If you're interested, I can tell you what I liked and what I didn't like about it. Meanwhile, here's my advice: Consider the hog harness, but feel free to make your own choice. Base it on your gut, your research... whichever you prefer. If you think you'll prefer the TransPlate, and you can afford it, go for it. It's a solid rig and will serve you well. A year or so down the line, you'll either be happy as a clam, or you may decide you should have purchased the hog harness after all, or you may simply be curious. The good news, at that point, is that you can convert your TransPlate to a hog harness simply by buying about $10 worth of webbing, and re-using the hardware you already have. Or you can just buy a hog harness kit and keep the TransPlate as a spare, like I did. I suppose I should just sell my TransPlate harness at this point. Let me know if you want a used one. Edit: Oops, not trying to steal a sale from ST. But the offer stands... |
