If you need the weight and don't want to wear a weight belt, it is worth it. If you plan to go to doubles though, you'd be better off wearing a weigh belt till you do. Otherwise, you will have 100.00 worth of weight pl;ates in the closet.

If you need the extra weight, I think it's definitely worth it. I got a pair for my Long pattern steel plate and they work just as advertised. When I'm wearing my 7mm farmer john or my drysuit, the plates add the extra weight that I need without having to put a weight belt on (I hate weight belts).
If it would be too much weight or you don't mind a weight belt, perhaps you can live without. For me, it just works. |

I have them for my plate and to be honest I liked them, but with doubles I am using a weight belt. I carry 20 lbs of lead with my double HP100's and my 600 gr under garment. It has a lot of air space in it. I have 8 lbs with my lesser undergarment.
Much of what you need weight wise is dependant on the undergarment and dry suit construction.

My wife and I both have them. It is SOOO nice to have that weight right under your lift. I also don't like a lot of weight on my belt so this gives me an awesome way of reducing that.
They're awesome, and of course, all DSS gear rocks. If you were to buy them and NOT like them (for some weird reason), you'll have a line of people waiting to buy them from you. |

Even though I am not currently using my plates, they're under my bed, I am keeping them for possible future use. Of course, they're not for the long plate, just the medium one.
Still, there are times when it's not useful. For me in doubles I needed the weight lower than the plate itself, and being on a belt is nearly perfect.
