Laugh if you want ;)
This may seem like a silly question since I have tried to research it on the internet, but have found only one answer.
How do most wings attach to a back plate? The answer I found showed the tank's cam bands holding the wing in place. Reading the ads for wings i see things like 11 inch holes fit most bps. I figure that there are different ways of doing this but have no real idea. Like I said laugh at my ignorance if you'd like but after wiping your eyes dry, please answer the question....photos would be great hahaha. Thanks, Lorne |

Again, not a stupid question. You don't know, you asked. This is a smart thing to do.
To answer your question: Wings attach to BPs by one of three typical methods: Doubles: The tank bands are 11" apart on center and the long bolts that tighten up the bands is long enough to go throught the back plate and are secured usually with the enclosed wing nuts. The wing is placed between the tanks and the plate and the bolts go through the holes/grommets in the wing Singles: can be attached two ways: The most usual one is by using a Single Tank Adapter (appreviated STA) that has a pair of bolts on 11" centers. The STA is attached to the tank with tank bands, the wing is between the STA and the BP and secured with the same wing nuts. The other way is to attach tank bands to the back plate using the two slots that are designed for the bands. The wing is between the bands and the tanks. Hope that helps.
