I've got 19 dives on my new Zeagle Brigade, and I have to say, it totally kicks the crap out of my jacket style BC. Being neutral is soooo much easier, and the thing is just downright more comfy. So far, it's the best purchase I've made. I just wish I would have known about that style when I was still learning.
<DIV>My wife ended up getting the Zeagle Zena, and she loves it too. </DIV>

<DIV>So, if any new students are thinking about what type of bc, defenitely try out these back inflate types over the jacket.</DIV>

I'm thinking about the Brigade. I was going to get the Zeagle Lazer, but haven't been able to try one on. Instead tried a Ranger, which fit really well, but costs more (and bladder probably overkill for me). Then I found out about the Brigade, which might be a great option (and cheaper than the Lazer). If anyone has tried both, please post some feedback.

Oh, by the way, my dive buddy has the Scubapro Knighthawk, which is somewhat similiar, but John is very jealous of my extra pockets on the sides. The Knighthawk is pocketless.

Are the trim weights on the Mares actually attached to the tank, or are they on the bc just around the tank?

Oh sure you can. These thread onto one of the tank straps, then velcro through the webbing on the back. Takes about 5 minutes to put them on - max...

Kory - only 19 dives since you bought yourself that Brigade? I figured you and John would be in the mid 50s by now, but maybe all the rain as had an impact.

Did you have them add the rear weight pockets? What would be the purpose of the trim weights and the rear weight pockets?

Those are exactly the same BC's my wife and I are going with. Joe has already hooked me up with a great package deal, just waiting to do the checkout dives this weekend, then we get to order our new scuba toys!!!

I have them on mine. They are supposed to help with the non-existent face plant problem. Others also use them to help move weight around to achieve proper trim. If I am wearing a very thick suit requiring a lot of lead I will put a small amount, maybe 1/4 or less of the total, in my rear weight pockets. That's the only time they seem to be of benefit to me personally. If I use them when I'm wearing a 3mm it throws my trim off so I don't use them in the summer.
