Thumbs up New Golem Gear BP/W

2 days before I left for a cruise my new GOLEM GEAR bp/w arrived. I immediately fit it on the same way I was planning to dive in St Thomas with only a rash guard. I didn't have a chance to get it wet so my first dive would be open water. I advised the shop ahead of time about this, they were very accommodating, even bringing a BCD for me at no cost if I had issues with the BP/W.

I purchased a bp/w because after 2 years of renting, I never found a bcd more comfortable than when I dove this kind of rig. I am 6'5" 330lbs so most bcd's are very snug. I am not expecting to go DIR or TECH, I'm just a simple diver.

So after jumping in then taking some time at the boat to adjust my weight and straps, I proceeded with my dive normally, and found the kit very comfortable.

The only issue I have is easily resolved. Between dives the straps went out of adjustment making it difficult to put back on. I will be ordering webbing keepers to keep the rig configured between dives.

The wing appears very tough skinned, but I cannot compare to other wings.

Overall at the sale price of $390 this was a great buy and would recommend it.

Well I am glad to hear that you like it. I wish I would have gotten the BP/W first and skipped the BC. I am keeping my BC though as a just in case or for if I ever want to teach PADI courses.

i'm assuming you are diving a basic hog harness. seems weird that your harness kit didn't come with keepers.
anyway, glad to hear you like the rig.

It does seem a little strange that it did not come with them. I just used a innertube from a Mtn Bike tire and made my own. You can see them in this post Harness Set Up Tips

Welcome my short heavy brother.

I'm 6' 6" and 330lbs and I too switched to a BP/W bc. I bought the DeepSeaSupply rig and I love it.

Yes it is a basic hog rig, and it came with keepers for the D-rings, but none for the harness near the waist. It also didn't come with a diagram to rig it.

Not really that unusual.
A lot of personal preferences go into rigging these things.
Dive rite for a while was shipping at least one of their harnesses with sleeves disigned more to protect the webbing but they also helped with the slippage. Some people like the inner tube. (I like that one over the sleeves as you can just cut the inner tube away if you need to adjust.
I use the belt slides. Over the years I collected enough of them so they are on hand.
I have one friend who wants nothing on the plate. he wants quick adjustment.
The harness has memory and after a while you can tell by the folds and wear in the webbing where the adjustment is.

I just got the Dive Rite basic s and it came with the sleeves and I did not use them because I heard too that the harness will slip more through them.
