Question About Tank Straps

This is probably a really stoooopid newbie question, but here goes..

Is there a trick to getting the cam style tank straps really tight? I have a Zeagle Brigade with dual tank straps...The way that the strap goes through the cam piece you can't just pull it tight..The only way I've been able to get it tight is to fish the strap around through the cam until I have to really push the BC down onto the tank, and then "cam" the plastic piece over to tighten it down....

Is this correct or is there a trick to this thing that I'm not seeing??

you need to get the strap out of that last thread it goes through....tighten, then thread it back through, then flip the cam over

The above advice is correct. But first make sure it is threaded correctly. And it helps to wet the straps.

I checked the diagram on the cam buckle and they are threaded correctly. Thanks for the advice...

I do what was explained above, but after I pull the strap tight I close the buckle half way to hold everythign tight and then put the strap back through the top slot.

The most important thing is to wet them first as they strecth when wet. Also as skdvr suggested above to complete the task.

I learned the hard way you need to wet the straps first...my tank was so loose it almost dropped on me and I had the straps very tight (or so I thought) but they had not been wet...big mistake.

Getting them wet does help. Not always possible though so I grab the strap pull hard then flip it over so it cams hard. Also having the rubber cam gripper thingy helps as well.

You get it snug enough before you cam it so that when you cam it really snugs it up. You have 2 straps on that vest which is overkill for a single tank as I know you can dive with just one. Just keep the top strap 1" below the top radius of the tank. I can send you a picture of how mine is laced if you wish, PM me if you need it.
