Transpac/OMS IQ vs a BC
Ok here is a question for the BP/W hog harness brigade:
I have seen plenty of threads about which BP/W set up to buy on various forums, I have even asked for advise myself. When people mention the soft style harnesses like Tanspac or OMS IQ the response is usually get an hog and SS instead. I am mainly looking at the OMS and Transpac to get away from the clutter of a BC. I also want to keep it as light as possible for traveling so the SS and STA isn't appealing. So which is better (i.e improves the diving experience), a good quality lightweight BC OR a rig using the Traspac/OMS IQ. |

I dive an IQ and love it. After seeing enough people struggle to get out their hog harness I went for the IQ.
I have been diving it for a few years now and do not regret it. As I get older the flexability in my sholders has gotten less. I do plenty of things to keep the sholders limber but heck I am a little older. I dive a 45 and a 94 dual bladder wings. the 45 is for trips w/ single tanks. the 94 is for here or anytime the doubles get wet.t It is a very versatile harness. It fits many body types and sizes. Very very compfy. I forget it is even on when in the water. It is strong enough to carry your doubles to the boat on your back. From what I told you woould not want to do this with lesser harnesses. WOW.... I feel really dumb. I don't know what the heck you all are talking about.
I never used or seen anything but a BC... well I saw a rebreather used on TV once. Man... I need some classes to catch up. Do we still use the dive tables to calc our dives or has that been replaced as well?? |
