I bought my excursion from scubatoys a few months ago. It's been working out great! I'm very satisfied, but wondering how long it will last. I wouldn't mind if it was the only BC I ever buy, but can anyone else say how long their BC's have made it?

Ihave had my BC for about 10 years, and it has over 300 dives. It's been in the pool a bit as well, I just rinse it well, try and dry it quick, keep it out of the sun. The only issue is one of the straps has a tear in it but a bit of duct tape fixed it up (purely cosmetic).

I see a lot of older Oceanic Chute and Probe BC's that are 5+ years old and going strong. If you take care of the bladder I don't see why you wouldn't get a decade or more out of a single BC except for the SCUBA bug that bites most of us eventually and trade up into a newer "better" BC.

The instructor I had for OW class had BC's that were 15 years old. They weren't weight integrated and looked like they would fall apart any day, but they functioned like they were supposed to. They were black at one time, but had a stone wash look to them after the 15 years of use..

I think this statement is true for almost all of the new gear I buy. Damn that scuba bug!

Forgot to mention on my last post, I considered the Excursion, but ended up going with a BP/W instead. I figured, why not go with the real thing?

i hope you're not calling mine a fake!
i may 'upgrade' in a few years, but not likely, as that would require money...

I bought the Oceanic Tour and feel that it does everything I could ever need.
