zeagle bp/w how much? or just get bc?

I am in the process of purchasing a bc. I was thinking maybe brigade or stilleto. The more I read the more intrigued I am with this BP/W stuff. What exactly would I need I would be buying it from ST, just seeing how much more it would run me to do the Zeagle Bp/W vs Stilleto. Diving will be a mix of cold (7mm) and warm. Single tanks only.

So I need this
Zeagle Deluxe Harness Backplate System reviews and discounts, Zeagle

and I think an escape bladder would be okay.
Zeagle Escape and Scout 35 lbs Lift Bladder reviews and discounts, Zeagle
get the rear pockets and shoulder straps adds about 75$

thats about 560$ snything else?

Any reason you are wanting to go with the Zeagle product?
Nothing bad about them, but the "deluxe" harness is a tad overpriced. You're paying $260 for a harness, plate, tank adapter and cambands... OUCH!

You could put together a one peice harness, (better than the "deluxe" IMO) tank bands, and a plate for much less cash. Add a new Oxycheq wing and you won't need a tank adapter.

Anyway, to answer your question, you need -

Wing
Backplate
Harness/D Rings/Webbing Keepers
Cam Bands

What you may need -

Weight Pockets
Tank Adapter

I recently got a quote from ST on a Qxycheq Mach V razor, Aluminum bp and harness in the $350 range.

I agree the deluxe harness is over-priced. Do you really want/need the quick-releases? (I personally like them, but I won't pay that much of a premium to have them) Shoulder pads can be added to any harness.

If you're diving a 7mm (you don't say what type of tanks you'd be diving) I highly recommend a stainless steel plate and maybe more lift on the wing than 35#, but it's hard to say w/o knowing your specific configuration.

Hope this helps

The only reason to get the deluxe harness(from what I've been told) is for the shoulder pads if your having to walk with your rig, such as down the beach or something. If your boat diving, get the "hog harness"(one piece no frills/ simple is better). I got a Deep Sea Supply package for just under $500. I called with the deluxe harness in my mind and was talked out of it. And the DSS guys were right.
The Stilletto is a nice BC, but I'd go BP&wing if it were me.

chirodoc,

One suggestion. Try out the different harnesses if you can. If you're old and have "less flexible" shoulders like me, you might want a quick release on your left shoulder strap.

I would suggest a BP/W with a standard hog harness. The hog will save you some money and most people like it better. I started with the hog, went to something like a deluxe and then went back to the hog. I currently own a DSS BP/W and am very happy with it. The quality and price is hard to beat. Tobin is a great help too. You can give him a call and he will tell you what size setup you will need based on your current equipment and diving. I am not real familar with Zeagle products so I can't comment on them.

That's a nice little BC, I had not seen that before!

Thanks for the link

I think anyone who thinks they need shoulder pads when they're already wearing a 7mm suit may need either their head or shoulders examined.

That aside, and despite Zeagle's excellent reputation, I'd recommend looking at other BP/W manufacturers before you buy. Most make "standard" plates and wings, but I'm not sure Zeagle does. You can get something a bit more versatile for less money if you look around. I'd suggest a Hammerhead plate and OxyCheq wing if you don't have a good reason to go with Zeagle.

One thing is certain, there is no reason to spend a fortune on a bp/w setup. There are many makers of them that ST's carries, and I don't think you could go wrong on any. IMO a wing of around 30 to 40 lbs max for a single tank would be fine. I dove for years with a 30 lb wing, and use a 49 lb wing on my doubles, so you don't need a lot of lift for most people. There are exceptions of course too all things.

I'd ditch the fancy harness myself and go with a simple hog harness, maybe one quick release if you really need it. My complaints about the fancy harness are simple, it's so fastened up with stuff that it gets in the way of backup lights etc. IE it's so stiff that there is no flex and it's kind of cluttered and uncomfortable with anything else strapped to it.
