which is better

I was at Divebooty, I am not ashamed to say it looking at some gear. And i came across the Sea Elite Snorkel BC with power inflator and another one that has a CO2 detonator.
Which one woudl be better the one with teh detonator or a power inflator?
we all tried using our BCs and they topple you over.

I personally do not like flotation devices for snorkeling. If you need an extra lift I have always found a wet suit was more than enough.

As far as your question the oral inflate should be sufficient and most likley the most cost effective.

And, you are not supposed to fly with co2 cartridges...

Just a basic vest should do you: Snorkeling Vests

The wife was using the plain-Jane snorkeling vest until she complained about her back hurting from the position it was keeping her in. Now she snorkels without one.

I agree-just use a snorkeling vest. Although personally, i hate them, if you need flotation, that would be the thing to use. Also, if you've got an old wetsuit around, you could use that for flotation as well.

Especially in salt water, I don't like to use anything when I am snorkeling. This allows me the opportunity to dive down and pick up what ever I dropped, see that neat shell or just crawl on the bottom to sneak up on my wife.

I would go with just a snorkel vest. When I was in Cancun last spring, my wife and I went on a group snorkel. They tied a horse-collar PFD around our waist. Sure made swimming with the current more difficult. Of course, I forgot it was on and tried to go to the bottom. LOL!

i agree with the no vest for snorkling. when the wife and i were in St. Lucia they made us wear the snorkle vest...but i never had it inflated one bit...but then again...maybe i'm just floaty.
