Venture Wing
I've been thinking about going to a backplate/wing - single tank at this point. Scuba Toys seems to have a great deal on the Venture wing but the wing sure looks different from every other single tank wing I've seen. I'm assuming at this price that Dive Rite may be discontinuing or modifying the wing but maybe not. Does anyone have any experience with the Venture and how it would compare to an Oxycheq or DSS wing? Thanks.

I think DR put all that extra bias material at the bottom to offset belt weights, but creates two bubbles on either side of the tank which pobably limits the benefit of a donut wing.
Rather than trying to offset all the weight on a belt, I would move some weight on to the upper cam straps. Althought here where I dive a steel plate with an AL tank or an Al plate with a steel tank, little or no weight goes on the belt. I'd stick with the narrow profile wing. Soooooo much easier to manage the bubble and your buoyancy.

I use one of these with a LP121. My previous wing was the DR Recwing and I had a dickens of a time try to trim the monster. I switched to the venture wing with great results. a 2lb trim weight on the upper tank band and the venture and I trimmed perfectly.
The trapezoidal shape (there's a word none of us have heard since 5th grade math) makes it easier to trim the bigger steel tanks. I haven't had any noticable problems with the profile making it mork work to swim. But I haven't dove any currents with it yet either.
