I use the Oxycheq 18# travel wing on a DR transpac. Works great.

I think you can do better than the Venture wing. Too bulky, too much lift too much taco.

I used the earlier smaller version. 30#. I think the new ones are 45#.

I have an 18# Mach V which I have used once with a steel 100 (-10#) Al plate w/ SS STA (-2#) , 2 # trim on my upper cam band (-2#) and 2# on a belt. I loved it, but was pushing it's limits with a full tank. It just barely kept my chin above the water. It will do as a summer rig.

Now, you with a SS BP (-5.5#) and an aluminum tank (-2.5) will do great in the tropics. But think about diving in NE and maybe steel tanks. The 18 is not recommended in those cases. If you don't have a wing yet or if you will own only one single tank wing, look at the 30# Mach V. I have one of those too.

I use a Venture on a SS bp/w set up and love it. Mine is the 45# version and it made trimming a LP121 easy. The Venture works well with both the 121 and it's backup AL80. I think it's a little overkill for the 80, but it still trims nicely with minimal fuss.

I haven't used an Oxy 18# so can't give any advice on it.

I would stick with the oxycheq or a DSS. Not a big fan of the venture

Pure curiosity Dane, what is it you don't like about the venture?
