Replacing a bladder?

Just wondering how difficult it is to replace a bladder in a wing. Specifically, what special tools are needed?

Generally speaking, you really don't need tools to remove the inner bladder for the bladder cover.

You unscrew all the over-pressure valves, shoulder dumps, etc. and then unzip the bladder cover and work it out.

Putting it back is a bit more difficult, because you need everything to line up correctly.

On our BCs, there is also an elastic sleeve inside the fabric cover, which the bladder needs to go inside of.

Pay attention to how it comes out and it isn't too bad putting it back together!!!

Thanks, I am just trying to decide if it would be worth it to buy a spare bladder just in case I damage one beyond repair on a trip. I know it is unlikely, but I am kind of person that likes to be over prepared. Does anyone else carry and extra bladder, or is this just way overkill?

I understand what you mean by wanting to be prepared but honestly I think an extra bladder is overkill. As long as you're careful when you pack your gear, the chances of damaging one are slim to none. Also, unless you're doing wreck penetration or cave diving, the chances of damaging it while diving are very, very unlikely and even then they only increase slightly if you're doing what you're supposed to.
