Weight sausage for Back Plate

If I want to add weight to an aluminum back plate and choose to use a weight sausage, should I put the cam bands under the sausage or should I wrapped the bands around the sausage?
To me, it makes sense to put the cam bands under the sausage.... but just because it makes sense doesn't mean it's right.....

Under, or you'll have trouble getting the straps tight enough to keep the tank from wobbling. Plus, it seems like it would stress the seams of the sausage to have them over. Just my 2psi.

IMHO, if you want to use a channel weight, you should put it under the STA and not thread the bands through the plate at all... which means I think you should use an STA.

I saw on one web-site where the user actually melted lead and poured it into the channel to form the channel weight. He dammed each end of the channel with clay. Obviously, the weight was formed between the bolt holes. This way the weight was exactly the weight he wanted.

I agree, I don't think that STA-less designs and channel weights are especially compatible, unless you're using a channel weight that somehow goes around the cam bands where they come through the plate.

I think if you want to add extra weight, weights on the cam bands or a weighted STA is the best way to go.
