I'd been very happy w/ my Ranger LTD for the last two years. A couple minor things bothered me a bit but I couldn't really ever see myself going with something else. But there was always that bit in the back of my mind - "all these BP/W people are SO adamant about how much they like them, there HAS to be something to it!" This summer I dove with a group a few times in Lake Michigan. All had BP/W setup except for my buddy and I. After asking them about things I finally had to find out what all this was about for myself.
I found a Transplate harness, SS plate with a Venture wing for sale. Bought it and gave it a go. Two dives in I had it properly weighted and adjusted. After the second dive I got home, took pictures of the Ranger and put it up for sale. I've since swapped out the Venture for a 30# Oxycheq Mach V wing. All I can say is "wow", now I know what all the fuss is about. It's like nothing is there. Can't wait to try it in warm water in a 3mm!! I'm down to 4# of lead when wearing my Fusion and HP100 tank. That's 12 less than what I had to put in my Ranger. And the profile is so much smaller in the water, trim is perfect. Last edited by Byte Me : 08-24-2009 at 03:24 PM. |
