DR plate is the same length, +/- less then an inch, as every other plate out there.

It doesn't have the bent corners that the Halcyon plate has, which supposedly make it a little more comfortable, but I can't say I recall any difference in comfort when I went from my DR plates to my Halcyon plates.

Think that is what the tech instructor meant too. Something about the plate's length not fitting us Asian body lengths etc. Maybe I have enough fat on my body and the plate can't find my hip.
Sumo size????

Was on my way there until I realised that I would need to buy a new wetsuit if I continue to expand horizontally.

I call BS on this one too. My DR plate had finish that was just fine. Certainly no burr issues on the slots to worry about. I got rid of it because I am tall enough I wanted one of the DSS long plates.

Re PM question: as others have said its a non issue. As you know I have two DR plates and have not noticed or experienced any problems with "reported" sharp edges/slots.

My advice is to go simple and cheap. To start, at least. Get a single strap "Hog" harness.

If you find it inadequate, then you go for one of the "comfort" or "pro" harnesses. Chances are that you won't feel any such need

I agree with fisheater,
the basic harness is the way to go. I use a DR deluxe harness with quick release, and I am regretting opting for it. A simple Hog harness should do.

Got a DR AL plate here, I think the edge issues may have been from 1 run a while back, or purely concocted - take your pick. Either way it would seem the current ones are A-OK.
