DiveRite backplate sharp edges?

Hey guys,

In my search of the perfect kit I stumbled upon a few messages about the DR backplates.

I have red that the edges can be sharp and you can possibly damage your gear.

Anyone got experience with this?
I dont have a dremel and just want a good product without any sharp edges.

Thanks guys,

Ties

I've not had any problems with mine-either the AL or SS. I would imagine that if it has a slight sharp edge, a quick run with a fine file would do the trick.

I have a DR SS Bp. No sharp edges anywhere on it. This is probably a story concocted by somebody who does not like DR. JM2c

I have a AL DR plate and have never experienced this problem.
I have heard a technical instructor told me that he changed his DR plate because the plate "cuts" into his body when he dives doubles.

Just ordered a new DR AL plate. I'll let you know if I need stitches.

I've owned 2 SS dive rite plates, and they didn't have any sharp edges that caused any issues. The fit and finish was not as nice as my current Halcyon plates, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with them.

LOL
Like I said, I experienced no such problems.
Maybe that instructor was just trying to sell me a new backplate.

My DR plate is a little uncomfortable on land-does dig in a little into my hips, but it's great in the water.

Think that is what the tech instructor meant too. Something about the plate's length not fitting us Asian body lengths etc. Maybe I have enough fat on my body and the plate can't find my hip.
