I dive a DR pb/w. I do not use an STA. The tank is held to the plate by the tank straps. I do have to make sure it is lined up straight before tightening the bands.

KISS principal?
I chose to use an STA as i like the ease of rigging and de-rig my setup...i personally find threading and unthreading my DR cam straps a real PITA!
Call me lazy but screwing and unscrewing wingnuts seems to be an easier job!

I think it depends on your rig. I dive the same plate for singles and doubles. The STA make switching between the two very easy.

Again do not worry about this. Make sure the nuts are tight before you put a tank on and your be fine.

I too just bought the Mini-STA's they work fine when in the water. I bought some spring washers to stop the wing nuts loosening up so much, so far they have worked well, but I like Devil Diver's rubber washer idea, I think I'll add some of these also.

The main issue I had with these is that the bolt length is too small for the top STA. It's not long enough to go through mini-sta, wing, harness, plate, washer and then get the nut on it. I just bought a longer one which does the job nicely but it does worry me that Oxycheq did not foresee this issue as most plates are going to present the same issue. Anyone else found this?

Had the same problem with the top bolt and had to buy a separate one on my own. It is weird that oxycheq hasn't realise this problem yet.

I also wondered why they can't figure out that those top bolts are too short. I replaced them both with longer stainless bolts, nuts, and lock washers (wifes rig). They don't swivel any more, but like others have said, it's a non-issue once the tank is on.
