I bought a rolling clothes rack for around 20 bucks and we keep all the gear - 2 sets - on their proper hangers on the rack. During dive season, it makes it easy, we roll it out to the driveway, clean & hang the gear; then roll it back into the garage. Off season, it just stays on the rack.

Seconded!
My 'daily' gear get's hung in the breezeway, with usually about 3-4 days to dry between weekend dives. My 'special' gear, once completely dry, gets packed in various tubs and large dive bags. It only get's used about every other month, and the wife complains if I leave it hanging around the house.. ![]() |

Wetsuits and bcd I would hang inside - maybe in a closet away from sunlight. Hanging keeps severe wrinkles from forming in suits.
Don't leave anything in garage or porch if it can freeze. Make sure everything is clean and away from sun, heat, rodents, etc. Snagel |

Since we travel to dive twice a year, we keep our gear in 1/2 of a bedroom closet. BC and wetsuits are on hangers, everything else goes into a Tupperware bin...after it's laid around out for about 2 weeks drying off. Then we leave the lid of the bin open for another week or so before closing to keep unwanted bugs out (though that's never been a problem before).

I dive year round but there are time I go awhile without diving or using certain gear. Some wetsuits, like my 3mm, only get used once a year. Wetsuits get hung up using thick hangers made for that.
BC is sometimes hanging or in a bin. Reels, spools, knifes, strobes, backup lights and other small items go in a small bin. Regs. get stored in a bin also coiled up. All my gear gets rinsed and dried before putting away. If and when needed I will rinse everything in a mild solution of bleach and water to remove the funk. There are many ways to store your gear and part of this will depend on how often you dive. Just make sure things are stored in a way to prevent damage. Wetsuits should be hung up with an appropriate hanger and not crushed under something. Remove batteries from lights if your not diving again soon. |
