Had a chance to try out my new gear in the pool this weekend. Everything is working great, except my head is hitting the first stage when I try to look forward. I lowered the tank as much as possible, but still hitting my head. Not sure what to do at this point. I have a Zeagle Brigade and an Oceanic Delta 4 FDX-10 reg. Any suggestions?

Learn where the 1st stage is and be careful. Lowering your tank is okay...IF it doesn't throw off your trim. Personally, I keep my tank high to stay horizontal. The 1st stage is right behind my head. If I need to look up I turn to the side rather than picking my head up.

At this point I can only look down, not even forward.

Well, really there are only two things that can make this happen. And it may take a bit of fiddling with new stuff to find the comfortable adjustment...
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>But the only variables we are dealing with is how high the tank is in the BC, so that's easy. Now on double tanks strap BCs, I put my top strap on the BC so it is just barely grabbing the tank right where the curve at the top of the tank ends.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>So then the only other option is how high the bc is on you. With bc's that have chest straps, I always make sure that I tighten the waist and chest strap before I pull down the shoulder pulls. I just sorta' get everything where I want it to be, and then when you tighten stuff, pull down the shoulders last, otherwise pulling the shoulders just brings the tank up higher on you.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I hope that makes sense... you kinda' have to play with it a bit. Maybe I should make a little video clip of what I'm talking about. If you think that will help, I'll try to shoot a little clip later this week. But try changing the order in which you tighten stuff, and you may find it can really alter how it sits on you when you're done.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>And of course, there is always the option for a crotch strap - that will always keep the bc down...</DIV>

What is your new gear? BP/W? If so, if you using an STA, move it down. If your using a wing that has a tank stabilizer on it, move it down to the hole below whatever it's in now on the BP.

If it's a BC, just keep moving the tank down.

To be honest, if you really hated it and still wanted your trim to be right, just turn your tank around 180 degrees. That way, the first stage is facing the other way Just don't go into any overheads

Larry is correct. I had the same problem with new BC , you just need to play abit andraise the BC up on the tank. Can really upset a dive when you keep smacking that damn thing.

Well, I just didn't see it at the bottom, I read so much all the text blends together

Regardless I answered the question as best I could, regardless of whether I saw what gear was used!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try to change the order of how I tighten things first like Larry suggested.

Reefhound, good point. I'm not sure I can say I wasn't a bit heads down, but it seemed to be happening all the time. I'll have to ask my buddy if he noticed.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play with it this weekend. I'll let you know what ends up working.
