Thumbs up Hammerhead BP

To all who see this e-mail greetings. Know ye that the manufacturer of the Hammerhead backplate has changed websites. They were at

http://www.hammerheadscuba.com/

They are now at:

Hammerhead Scuba - Hammerhead II Backplate

I called them, and let them know the old website was up and appearing first in Google, so hopefully they will kill it soon. They gave me the new web address in return.

No, I am not affiliated with the company. I have just been reading this forum ALOT and I think I decided on them for the backplate I will purchase. I don't think ST sells these. *grin*

Thanks for the update... I was just looking at their old website this morning and I did not realize that they had a new one. I like the old prices better... It is a great BP though and worth the extra $10 for the cold water package...

I wonder what would happen if you ordered from the old website?

$110 for a weighted STA and steel BP? That's pretty cheap. Can anyone vouch for their quality?

Top Notch... I have one and love it. Everyone that I know of that has one loves it.

I bought the SS plate with the 2 piece STA. I am thinking about buying the weighted STA now that I will be diving dry most of the time. Although hopefully soon I will be diving my doubles most of the time.

Got the SS one myself with the one piece STA and it is one rugged unit ! Sure makes it nice to have the extra weight on the plate and off belt too ! Only thing that I encountered was that since I had the Oxycheq Mach V Sig with the anti roll pieces in the wing, I had to cut them out for the wing to mount with the STA. That was per instructions that I received from Patrick of Oxycheq.

I've heard a LOT of pleased customer stories and not a single dissatisfied customer story. They make good plates, priced well under the more mainstream plates.

Oh, and their model ROCKS.

I "heard" that they are so cheap because they are slightly unfinished, meaning that you have to grind down some of the edges so they won't damage the wing.

Is that true??

I think the BP itself is finished but the STA is not, so you'll want to sandpaper/grind the slots so they don't chew up your cambands, and possibly the channel edges to prevent scratching the tank finish.
