Transpac type Harnesses that accept a Backplate

I originally wanted to get a Transpac, but it would not accept a backplate. I got a Transplate instead. My Transplate is comfortable for hiking, but I would like to get a Transpac type harness with BP also. I know that OMS has the IQ Pack that will work with BP and Deep Outdoors Matrix is BP compatible. How many others are there?

I've seen a plate with the Transpac harness before.... I'm pretty sure you can get it with the nicer harness.

I have been looking at the zeagle tech that also has the ability to add a backplate or mini backplate. Check out their site.

TansPac has the soft backplate setup. I dive the transPac with double 100's in a dry-suit using zero weights. (Worthington HP 100's)
Granted it's not as tight on your back as a steel/Al BP/W setup, but it more then get's the job done.

I just like the Transpac due to that I can switch from Doubles to Side-Mount and not have to add/remove any thing to the harness.

Using doubles, but notice below the tanks the Nomad Butt-Plate for when switching to side-mount. Just remove doubles, strap tanks on for sidemount.
Heck can even wear doubles + sidemount + stages

I can see how transpac's are great for sidemount but I've never been impressed with them for backmount... especially doubles. They're lightweight, but I don't necessarily see that as a good thing when you're in a cold water exposure suit and NEED the extra weight anyway. And I vastly prefer the stability of a real backplate, with doubles.

You phrased it correctly when you use the word "prefer". One of the beauties of this sport is that there is gear to fit just about anyone's preferences. That is one of the reasons it is so hard to give anyone excellent advise on gear selection. It is also one of the confusing factors for the new diver trying to figure out what to buy.

To the OP's question: Yes, "deluxe harness" rigs are available from at least DiveRite and Zeagle. Functionally they are very much like a TransPac with a BP. Whether you will, or will not, like them is really a matter of personal preference.

[GREEN WITH JEALOUSY] I have a nomad just waiting to get wet. That and Orange Grove and Peacock 1 look SO inviting, especially when your 900+ miles away!

Well thank you for the input. From this thread it looks like the only additional vendor for a Transpac/BP type harness is Zeagle Tech.
